Are photos needed, and how many does it take?

No, they are optional. The lanterns work on words alone: each one carries a wish, and the letter waits behind them. If you do add pictures, three is what the format uses — one per lantern, plus the first as the image beside your letter. Give fewer and the ones you gave repeat across the three lanterns.

Do all three lanterns have to be released?

Yes. The letter stays closed until each lantern has been read and let go, and the page shows how many are still on the ground. It is a slow, deliberately quiet card — about a minute before your words. That pacing is the format; if you want the message immediately, pick a plainer one.

What do I write in the three wishes, and what does it cost?

Three short lines that go somewhere: one that lets them stop being brave, one that remembers something you shared, one about what is still ahead. Leave one empty and it falls back to your main letter, which works but repeats. The card ends with a question — the built-in one or your own — and their answer comes back as a reply to your Giftable.
